So I don't know about you but I love the concept of journaling but I don't ever actually do it, and then I wish I did. I take plenty and I do mean plenty of pictures on all of our adventures to caputre the moments so we have them to look back at. But lets be honest, 10 years from now....or well maybe even 1 year from now you aren't really going to remember what beach you were at or what you did that day that made it special or what your childs favorite part of the day was just by looking at the pictures. So I recently decided I would start "Postcard Jounaling" our adventures whether they are day trips, vacations, staycations or whatever to capture a little bit about what our day was like and what the best parts were to go along with the 1,000 or so pictures that I took that day.
So far our collection of postcards is small since we just stared this new memory keeping adventure a month ago but I think it is going to be a great idea. My daughter already enjoys looking at her 4 postcards and asks what all the words are on the back. And I love asking her what her favorite part of that particular experience was when I write them out - what an awesome collection of memories our family will have down the road.
Here are some suggestions of things to include on your Postcard Journals:
- The date
- A quick summary of what the day was like
- Your favorite part, your spouses favorite part and/or your child's favorite part of the experience
- A short list of the people who attended.
I know they say a picture is worth 1,000 words - but sometimes I think the words just might be worth more.
Until Next Time -
Samantha
Most certainly a neat idea and something I think I may start doing as well. Not that we go very many places LOL but I am sure as time goes on and we pay down our debt we will be able to enjoy more than we do now :) I think I may actually make a list of places we would like to go locally since that is more doable at the present time and also make one for places further away for when we are able, like a wishlist LOL
