Time for a change

Well this year has been full of change for us....more on that in another post, so I figured why not continue with the trend. I'm going against the laws of society and deactivated my Facebook account. The news feed has become full of over sharing, hatred, pictures of things I just don't want to see and a whole list of other things. I've decided I had enough and I am moving on. I will go back to the "old fashioned" ways of phone calls, emails and maybe even some hand written letters! Society would likely be a better place if more people did the same.

Time for the two of us

Andre and I celebrated our 7 year wedding Anniversary this past April. In those 7 years we accomplished a lot. We moved from NJ to NC, started new jobs, bought our first home and had two beautiful children. We've made new friends, made a new life found an amazing church family and as my husband says "we stumbled into a life"

Since having our first child in 2008 it has been very rare that we do anything for ourselves. With the exception of the occasional dinner out by ourselves, everything we have done has been for our children or with our children. This year at the last minute we decided we would do something for ourselves.

On a whim we decided to book a room at Virginia Beach for just the two of us. We enjoyed the drive there with no need for extra potty stops, no asking are we there yet, no complaining about being in the car. It was weird not having the kids there in the car but at the same time it was nice to have an actual conversation with Andre, something that rarely happens these days. When we got there we checked into our room and then went for a walk on the boardwalk we walked for a few hours and just enjoyed the area and each others company. We enjoyed dinner at a restaurant that we have never been to before we walked on the beach in the early morning. It was only one night away but it was amazing. The short trip was definitely a reminder that we do need to take time away from the kids no matter how hard it may be to do and enjoy our time together.

Here are a few pictures from our trip.

A Big Step - Baptism

May 19th was an amazing day - it was the day I decided I was going to sit in a tub of water in front of the entire congregation at Cross Point Community Church in Knightdale and be Baptized.

In the weeks leading up to the big day I had to go and video my testimony so they could play it the day of my Baptism. I was quite nervous sitting in front of the camera sharing my story but thanks to a good friend who prayed for me before I started and another good friend behind the camera I made it through ok.

It was quite crazy sitting in that tub in front of the whole church while they sat watching my video - but it all went by quite quickly. The front row was filled with my family and friends and I could hear them cheering for me as I went under the water.

It was an amazing experience and more importantly a life changing experience. I'm not perfect by any stretch but now as an adult I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and I'm going to make a conscious decision to live my life everyday showing the people around me the love of Jesus through my love for them. I'm going to make a conscious choice to bring Jesus into our home everyday and to teach our children all about the love of Jesus, His Grace and His Mercy. I'm looking forward to all that Jesus has in store for me as I start on this new journey.
